2nd Chance Rules

 

2008 Rules... (January 2008  update)

1. Eligibility - This is a scratch singles event. All entrants must hold a current season USBC card. Entrants must be a roster member of a 2008 JWTC team. This is an invitational tournament, and the tournament management has the right to refuse entry to any person.  This event is USBC Youth Certified.

1A.  Tournament Schedule:  The Second Chance Shootout will take place at Suncoast Bowling Center on Sunday, June 29, 2008 beginning at 8:30 AM.

2. Registration shall begin immediately after team cut has been posted on Saturday until space is filled. Entries close 15 minutes prior to start of the event.  Entry may be limited to first 90 participants. All participants must check in on Sunday at 7:45 AM to receive lane assignments prior to the start of the tournament and will move after each game on rotation as announced.

3. Substitutions - No substitution is allowed — if a participant is unable to complete bowling, he/she will receive zeros for each frame missed. Semi-finals event will begin as soon as results are posted on Sunday or as announced. Any qualifying bowler who is not present at start of competition will be disqualified and the next competitor will move up.

4. Ties - In case of tie at cut off score, bowlers tied shall bowl a 1 game tie breaker—with highest total pinfall determining who advances to finals.

5. Tournament Management - The decisions of the tournament management shall be final unless an appeal is made in accordance with USBC rules.

6. Entry Fee - The entry fee shall be $40.00 per bowler. Breakdown as follows: (Lineage & Expenses $21.00; Prize Fund - $19).

7. Prize Fund - All prize fees will be returned 100%. Prize fund will be divided according to the number of entries in each division. All awards shall be in the form of Scholarships will be distributed based on a minimum ratio of 1:10 entries. Scholarships shall be administered through the USBC S.M.A.R.T. program.

8. Protests - Any questions or concerns must be brought to Tournament Management. Official protests must be filed, in writing, with tournament management in accordance with USBC Rule 329.  Scoring errors must be reported with 24 hours or prior to awards being presented, whichever occurs first.

9. Average Verification - Required for any entrant in the Limited Division. Averages must be on file and verified as part of the JWTC Team event entry process to be eligible for Limited Division. All bowlers without verified averages on file shall bowl in the Unlimited Division. No on-site verifications will be accepted.  All averages must be USBC League Averages.

10. Conduct - Poor behavior, to be determined by tournament management, will not be allowed on or off the lanes and may result in disqualification. Any incident that reflects poorly on the JWTC, reported to the Tournament Management, including consumption of alcohol beverages by minors, and poor behavior in the host hotel, could result in disqualification, at the discretion of the Tournament Management. Entry fees of disqualified teams will not be refunded.

11. Format - There shall be two divisions, the Unlimited Division (Average of 190 and over & all unverified averages) and the Limited Division (verified averages of 189 & Under). Entrants will bowl four games of qualifying on Sunday morning. Field will be cut 1:2 an advance to a semi-finals round of 3 additional games. Scores from qualifying carry forward. The top 3-5 bowlers in each division (to be announced at start of competition) will advance to step-ladder finals. The finalists shall compete in 1 game scratch matches in step-ladder format competing 5th vs 4th loser taking 5th and winner advancing vs. 3rd, etc. (placement determined by order total pinfall during semi-final games). Finals will take place concurrent with team event finals.  All bowling will take place at Suncoast Bowling Center, Las Vegas.

12. Tournament Dress –

Tournament Management shall determine what constitutes proper dress for participation. While meant to be limiting, the following applies:

A. Boys must wear dress slacks and a sport shirt with a collar.  No denim or cargo type pants are permitted.

B. Girls must either wear dress slacks or an appropriate skirt and sport shirt with a collar.  Skirts must be no shorter than 2 inches above the knee. 

C.  Sleeveless shirts are not allowed.  All bowling shirts must have sleeves and a collar.  Shirts must be long enough to fully cover the abdomen when fully extended at the foul line.

D.  All slacks, pants, etc. must be worn at waist level - no sagging is allowed and no undergarments shall be visible.

E.  Clothing will alcohol or tobacco advertising, or with offensive material printed on them, will not be allowed

F.  No hats are permitted to be worn

G.  Electronic devices such as Ipods, MP3 players, etc. may not be worn or used on the approach - they may be used in the setee area so long as they are not audible to any other bowler.  Cellular phones and pagers shall be put on silent mode or turned off and not used during competition.

 

13. If an entrant is disqualified prior to the start of the semifinal round, and said entrant qualified for the semifinals, the next eligible entrant will be taken.

14. Coaches and spectators are not allowed in the settee area during bowling. Bowlers must remain in the settee area while bowling and coaches must remain in the concourse area.

15. All aisles, walkways and stairs must remain clear!

16. Flash photography and lighted videography are not permitted.

17. There shall be no smoking allowed in the bowling center by any parent, spectator or coach — please step outside before lighting up; bowlers may not use any tobacco products during competition.

18. USBC tournament rules shall apply to any items not specifically covered in these rules.

19. Tournament management reserves the right to announce additional rules and/or changes to these rules along with the cuts for semi-finals prior to start of competition — if any one disagrees with added rules or announced cuts, he/she may withdraw his/her entry with full refund prior to the start of competition.
